How to Get to Sardinia: Airports and Ferries
Sardinia has three international airports:
Cagliari Elmas Airport (CAG). It is the main gateway to the island, with direct flights from several European cities.
Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB): northeast of the island.
Alghero - Fertilia Airport (AHO): Northwest of Sardinia, mainly served by flights from Italy and Europe.
The shortest and cheapest flights usually depart from Rome. There are daily low-cost flights that last about 1 hour.
We took a Ryanair flight from Rome to Cagliari and then from Cagliari to Naples. It was super efficient, fast, and cheap. It costs between US$80 and US$150, depending on the pieces of luggage and time of travel.
It is also possible to reach Sardinia by ferry. They leave from ports in mainland Italy, such as Civitavecchia, Genoa, and Naples.
The ferry trip lasts 6 to 9 hours, but it can be convenient for those who want to bring their car. Prices vary greatly depending on the cabin and date, with or without a car. They can cost from US$30 to US$1,000.

Located in the center of the Mediterranean, it is bathed by the Tyrrhenian Sea on the eastern coast.
Best Time to Visit Sardinia: A Seasonal Overview
The best times to visit are spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). The climate is mild and pleasant, with fewer tourists and more affordable prices.
Summer: High season (July to August). Hot and sunny weather, crowded beaches, and higher prices. Good season for those who want to enjoy outdoor activities and nightlife. Average temperatures are around 30°C.
Winter is the low season (October to April). Temperatures range between 7 and 15 degrees. Low prices, some places are closed.
We went at the beginning of May. It was around 20°C, but it rained a lot!
